Poppy Pin

As we approach Remembrance Sunday in the UK, I decided to make a poppy that I feel comfortable wearing. I wanted something that would last, in comparison to the paper poppies that are available. Also something that reflects my desire for peace in the world. More information on white poppies can be found here.

The design for the poppy below is by Kerrie Slade and the pattern can be bought via her website.

I do like the white poppy, I feel I could wear it all year round.

I used size 11 seed beads for this pin. The accent beads on the stamens are swarovski bicones with an ab finish. I'm a "no knots" beader - I think it took me longer to weave all the thread tails in than anything else. I have even beaded the back of the stick pin - no glue in this piece at all. Entirely beaded.
